Folk mathematics is informed mathematics used in daily life by ancient people. More specifically folk mathematics or mathematical folklore is the body of theorems, proofs, facts, definitions etc. that circulate among ancient people by word of mouth and believed to be true among specialists. But have not yet appeared in print, either in books or in scholarly journals. Folk mathematics may be regarded as an undercurrent to the main stream of mathematics. Being extremely practical in nature it serves the need of people in every walk of life. It can be applied to various problems arising out of everyday life, seek recreation in it and encourage to solve problems orally.
