On the occasion of the 78th birthday of Padma Vibhushan Rajarshi Dr. Veerendra Heggade, chairman of the JSS Shri Manjunatheshwara Institution, our school organized a series of events and activities to honor his contributions to society.
Programs and Performances
- Role‑play by Classes 1 & 2
Students dressed as Dr. Veerendra Heggade ji and other notable figures, presenting dialogues and skits that highlighted his visionary ideas and the impactful work of his organizations.
- Rural Youth Skill Development
Rudset conduct self‑employment training for rural youth, offering courses in:
- Beautician training
- Tailoring
- Computer hardware
- Other vocational skills
- Women Empowerment Initiative
A program aimed at enhancing the economic power of rural women through skill‑development workshops, enabling them to engage in income‑generating activities.
- Computer Training
Basic computer skills courses provided to participants.
- Tailoring Workshops
Practical training in garment construction and design for women.
- Beautician Course
The RUDSET Institute in Dharmasthala offers Comprehensive training in beauty care and cosmetics.
- Sanchari Aspatre
Free treatment medical services delivered to both urban and rural populations.
- Clean Water Initiative
The Shuddha Ganga project is a community-based drinking water scheme initiated by the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), The primary goal is to provide potable (safe for drinking) water to rural communities in Karnataka, where many areas suffer from excess levels of fluoride, nitrates, and bacteria in their water sources.
- Nature Therapy & Yoga Camps
Sessions encouraging physical fitness; teachers were trained to teach yoga to school children. SDM group operates several well-known centers in Karnataka that offer nature therapy, yoga camps, and holistic wellness programs
- Annaprasad (Annapurna Kitchen)
Annapurna Kitchen is the large, family-run kitchen at Dharmasthala, famous for providing free meals to around 50,000 pilgrims daily, irrespective of their caste, creed, or religion. This “Mega Kitchen” is a significant feature of the Dharmasthala Temple
- Educational Institutions
SDM educational institutions are a network of over 50 institutions across Karnataka, managed by the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Society (SDME Society). They offer a wide range of programs from primary education to professional degrees in fields like engineering, management, law, medicine, naturopathy, and general education. The institutions are guided by the principles of quality, service, and value-based learning, and are headed by Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade.Â
- Self‑Help Groups (SHGs)
Encouraging women to save and access credit, helping them support their families financially.
- Children’s Performances & Thoughtful Speeches
Students presented acts and reflections that brought to life the values championed by Dr. Heggade ji
The celebration not only marked Dr. Veerendra Heghade ji’s 78th birthday but also showcased the wide‑range of social development programs initiated by his organization. Through role‑plays, skill‑training workshops, health services, and community outreach, the event reinforced the commitment to empower rural youth and women, promote health and education, and foster a spirit of service—core principles that Dr. Heggade embodies.
